The group meets at 4:14 on Sunday afternoons at Ascension.  Currently we are studying the Gospel According to John.

Beginning November 15 and using expert video and written study guides, the group begins a Christian analysis of Fyodor Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov.  As a Christian, Dostoevsky, often debated the existence of God, the role of religion in modern societies, and the consequences of class differences on the individual through his fiction.   Preparation reading for the November 15 session is The Brothers Karamazov, Part One, Books I & II.

Outreach to Coordinate Habitat for Humanity Work Day

Mark your calendar for Saturday, November 7 and stay tuned for more details as Ascension partners with St. Barnabas Church for a joint work day in Lafayette supporting Habitat for Humanity.  Habitat is a grassroots Christian nonprofit organization dedicated to the elimination of poverty and substandard housing worldwide.  Habitat builds houses in partnership with families who qualify for homeownership based on three criteria:  a need, a willingness to partner with HFH and an ability to repay a no-interest mortgage.

As a volunteer-driven organization, Habitat welcomes people from all walks of life to assist with building simple, affordable houses.  No construction or building skills are needed.  Work hours will be approximately 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on November 7.  Volunteers are encouraged to bring work gloves and dress for a day of outdoor work. Teens and adults aged 16 and older are welcome to participate.  Permission slips must be completed by an adult guardian for those aged 16 - 21.  Lunch and drinks will be provided.  To sign-up and for more information, please contact Mary Ann Bernard at 237-7014 or email her at marb29@msn.com
